Pre-Kindergarten was lucky enough to meet a new friend this month. Hiccup the Butterfly visited the music classroom. Needless to say, his arrival brought many giggles as he forgot himself and flew from student to student and became so silly that he had to be told to stop being too silly.
Hiccup the Butterfly taught us:
- keeping a steady beat
- counting skills
- copying skills
- eye contact
- emoting with songs

1st gradeFor the first time in history (that we know of), I would like to introduce you to the first "Scarf Orchestra" ever performed by a group of first graders. I do believe they completely understand the old adage of "How to get to Carnegie Hall.....PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE." After practicing our performance skills, we were able to surprise Mrs. Kiefer and her band student with the premier performance.
Working on the scarf orchestra taught:- following the conductor

- starting as a group
- ending as a group
- rhythm matching
- tempo matching
- working together as a group
