NATALIE JAVITT, Class of 2016
I am Natalie Javitt, from the St. Patrick class of 2016 and am a freshman at York Catholic. I liked St. Patrick school because it gave me a great educational base before attending York Catholic while providing me with a lot of fun memories to cherish. Some of my favorite memories include the winter and spring concerts that would always require a lot of practice for the band, chime choir and show choir, as well as the preparation for each grade to learn their singing parts. I also loved the field days, weeks with the Scholastic Book Fair and Catholic Schools Week. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Shanko. My class had her for the two years leading up to attending York Catholic and I think she was one of the reasons that made the transition so easy. I found that myself, and I believe most of the other kids in my class, felt very prepared for the academic requirements at YC, especially in math. I definitely wouldn’t be the hardworking student that I am today if it wasn’t for the academic base that St. Patrick school provided. 2/15/2019
JAIDEN NEWCOMER, Class of 2017
I am Jaiden Newcomer from the St. Patrick class of 2017 and am an 8th grader at York Catholic. I was at St. Patrick's from Kindergarten to Sixth Grade. I liked St. Patrick's because the education was wonderful and the teachers are very nice. My favorite memory was our Sending Forth Ceremony where we graduated Elementary School. I liked it because we relived all of our memories at St. Patrick's and realized how far we had grown since we had started there. If you take music lessons then you can be in the band even after you graduate St. Patrick's. The transition over to York Catholic was difficult in the first days, but after a while you get used to it, and the teachers there are the greatest. 1/14/2019
MAGGIE JAVITT, Class of 2008
My name is Maggie Javitt, and I graduated from St. Patrick in 2008. Currently, I am getting my Master’s degree in criminal justice and criminology from Cabrini University in Radnor, PA. I attended St. Pat’s from Pre-K to 6th grade. I liked St. Pat’s because I always felt at home. The faculty and staff were friendly and welcoming, and they always made sure that I, as well as all the other students, were not only learning, but also having fun in school. I have had nothing but positive, enriching experiences as a St. Pat’s student. I have many great memories of my time there. I remember every Tuesday in third grade, Ms. Zorbaugh’s mom would bring us donut holes and we would each get two to eat while Ms. Zorbaugh read us a book. In sixth grade, I came in second place in the geography bee. In fourth grade, the entire class dressed up like famous Pennsylvanians, and I dressed up like Louisa May Alcott. In first grade, my older sister and I were chosen to take up the gifts at Mass one Friday, and I remember feeling very special and important. I received an incredibly strong faith foundation from St. Pat’s, and as I grew up, the lessons and morals I learned as a St. Pat’s student stayed with me. One of my earliest memories of the Catholic faith is sitting in a pew during Friday Mass as a Pre-K student, watching the older students participate in the Mass as readers and altar servers. I remember wanting to have a part in the Mass as well. Throughout my years at St. Pat’s, I became an altar server, a lector, and a member of the choir. St. Pat’s encouraged me to become an active participant in my faith, a lesson which I have continued to carry with me. I felt incredibly prepared to transition from St. Pat’s to York Catholic. I placed in advanced math and qualified to take a language as a seventh grader. Never once did I feel like I did not have the academic ability to succeed at York Catholic, particularly in social studies, English, and religion. I am proud to say that the academic foundation I received at St. Pat’s has led me to great success not only in high school, but in college as well since I was selected as valedictorian for my college graduating class in 2018. 1/13/19
ABIGAIL PAUTZ, Class of 2017
I am Abigail Pautz from the St. Patrick class of 2017 and am an eighth grader at York Catholic. I started at SPCS in Pre-K. The reason I like St.Patrick is because it is a kind environment where I could grow up. I received good education and the basics of friendship - I still have friends that I made from Pre-K! I formed a bond with everyone in my class, and I was happy. My favorite memory is when I was third grade . . . it was my first year as a book buddy, and I had two Kindergartners, instead of one. When I met them I bonded with them. I still talk to them and realize how much they have grown. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Stifler from Kindergarten. I liked her because she was kind. She taught us to always be nice to others because we would need them in the future. To me, the most important thing I received from attending St. Patrick is the great friendships I formed there. When I went to York Catholic, it was an easy transition academically. My fourth through sixth grade teachers said that I would have to study and keep neat notes. Thanks to that advice, I went through seventh grade easily. My most challenging subject was math, but my sixth grade teacher helped and taught me tricks. When I got to seventh grade, I got my first 100% in math! I am so grateful and happy my parents sent me to St. Patrick School. Given the opportunity to attend a different school I would still choose St. Patrick because of the benefits I got from this kind and loving school. 1/9/2019
